The Interclue Manifesto 0.8a
The Interclue Manifesto
- Every pixel counts.
- The value of our users' screen real estate and mouse travel time must be respected.
- Users should have as much control as possible over their browsing environment.
- User augmentation cannot come at the cost of user irritation.
- Functionality is useless without usability and discoverability.
- We will always maintain the privacy and security of our users.
- We seek as much feedback and interaction with our users as possible.
- We will strive to increase the value of the web as a knowledge repository and a means of discourse.
- We are a responsible, sustainable endeavour and our profitability is not the be all and end all.
- However, we are also a commercial endeavour and seek to bring our investors an excellent ROI.
- We will never stop looking for more ways to increase the value of the time people spend online.
Interclue Development Policies
- Our development policies are guided by our manifesto.
- We never fail to consider our users' privacy and security when making development decisions.
- We will aim to support as many browsers as possible, through any means necessary.
- We will test our releases well, and work towards having a full set of automated QA tests.
- We will design our default options for a mainstream audience.
- But we will let power users have as much control as possible over their user experience.
- We will write internationalised code, and we intend to support as many languages as possible.
- We will try to increase exposure for emerging web standards and open APIs.
- We seek to augment existing tools, practices and standards, rather than trying to replace them.
- We will release our own API, and provide support for third-party developers using Interclue as a platform.
